Feb 23 Program

Please join us Tuesday, February 23 for a program titled 'Open Critique'.  There will be snacks and soft drinks provided.  The meeting is held at TAACCL and opens at 7:00pm.

The open critique concept gives members a chance to bounce thoughts and ideas for their photos off other members without the pressure of being judged and scored.  This makes it the perfect avenue for our newer, possibly less experienced members to get feedback on their photo(s) prior to a possible submission for Honors Night at some point in the future.  It also works for our more experienced members to get that one viewpoint or comment on their photo(s) that pushes it over the top for them.  Houston Center for Photography (HCP) uses this concept routinely at their monthly first Tuesday meetings.

Basically, you bring a maximum of five (5) photos for critique, printed or on removable media.  You are given ten (10) minutes to discuss, ask questions of the members for critique or get help in improving the photos.  Obviously, there is only so much time available for members to present their working photos.  This means all members who want to participate may not get to present to the group.   We do not know how many will participate at this point in time.  If you say "I'm not going to bring mine because there will be too many already", we may not have any photos to present at all.  I would ask that all members who wish to present their photos to go ahead and bring them. We will have people sign up at the meeting, first come first served.

We will not be correcting photos onscreen using software or working them in any way.  This is purely honest feedback to help you get the most out of your photos, without feeling like you are "under the gun" so to speak.  It has been successful in the past and by all accounts it works very well at HCP.  Bring them printed or on removable media (CD/DVD or USB key).  We will have the easel set up along with the digital projector and screen.

Note: Printed photos do not require a mat for 'Open Critique'.
