September 22

Pam Culpepper of J Pamela Photography, Inc will be our guest speaker on Tuesday September 22, 2009.  Pam is a Certified Professional Photographer, one of a select group of worldwide members of the Professional Photographers of America.  She has worked as a professional Photographer in the Houston area for the past 25 years.

Pam will be performing some guest critiques during the first half of the meeting.  Members will be allowed to bring a photo for a personal critique.  We will have to limit the number of photos by setting a time limit.  That means any member can bring a photo to be critiqued, but we will stop at a pre-determined time; so yours may not get viewed.

We will take a short break for refreshments after the critiques.  When we return, Pam will present a viewpoint on Legacies.  It would be her point of view and focus as it relates to the last 25 years of photography.  This will incorporate a PowerPoint slideshow.  You know how we all like to look at photos!

We look forward to our members and visitors getting this opportunity to see and listen to Pam.  I would like to thank Clif Grim for talking to Pam and arranging for her to speak to the club.

There will be snacks and soft drinks provided.  The meeting is held at TAACCL and opens at 7:00pm.

Pam Culpepper has suggested that members may have some questions for her that would be easier to answer if we know about them before the meeting.  Examples of this would be:

  • Any burning questions about photography
  • Questions related to running a photography business
  • Any general questions you would like to her to answer

We have all done it.  You are in a workshop, tutorial, seminar or the like.  Whoever is presenting the topic asks if there are any questions.  You sit there for a few minutes waiting for someone to come up with a question.  You feel badly because the speaker is just standing there with a blank look on their face for 5 minutes.  No one has a question.  As soon as you close the meeting or are walking out the door, all kinds of questions pop into your head.  Too late!

If you take a few minutes now to think about it you will come up with a list of questions for Pam.  So do that now and email those questions to me.  This way we avoid that blank space, and no small amount of embarrassment while we all just sit there looking at each other, just hoping the other person next to you has something to ask.  She will answer those questions in the meeting with the prepared list she has been provided.  This would also allow her to give a meaningful, thought out answer to the question(s).
